Leadership in Medicine – Neurological Perspectives from Faculty Leadership (Video Podcast)

In this video podcast, two deans of medical faculties with a background in neurology discuss leadership, education and the future of medical training in Switzerland.

The discussion is moderated by Prof. Dr. med. Caroline Pot (President of the SNS) and Prof. Dr. med. Urs Fischer (Past President of the SNS). Their guests are Prof. Dr. med. Claudio Bassetti (Bern) and Prof. Dr. med. Renaud Du Pasquier (Lausanne).

The two deans share their experiences in academic leadership and explain how their neurological background shapes their leadership style. Analytical thinking, systems-based approaches and the ability to navigate complex situations are key competencies both in clinical practice and faculty management.

The conversation also addresses current challenges facing medical faculties in Switzerland, including limited resources, the need for more flexible study models and the promotion of individual career paths.

The speakers highlight the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration as well as the growing role of digitalisation and artificial intelligence in medical education.
