Swiss League Against Epilepsy

The Swiss League Against Epilepsy (Epilepsy League) is a professional organisation operating all over Switzerland, and is the Swiss chapter of the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE). It supports patients, clinicians, and researchers.

Comment: Good source for both research and clinical care in Switzerland.

Swiss Society for Clinical Neurophysiology (SSCN/SSNC/SGKN)

The SSCN promotes and regulates clinical neurophysiology in Switzerland. It offers educational programs and exams for EEG, ENMG, cerebrovascular Ultrasound, and neuromuscular Ultrasound. The SSCN is part of the International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology.

American Epilepsy Society

The American Epilepsy Society (AES) is one of the oldest American neurological professional organisations. The society promotes interdisciplinary communications, scientific investigation, and exchange of clinical information about epilepsy.

Comment: Important for international networking. There is an interesting annual meeting in the USA. For those interested in research, the AES provides different award opportunities and research funding.

International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE)

The ILAE is an international society founded in 1909 that aims for advancing and disseminating knowledge about epilepsy, promoting research, education, training, and improving services and care for epileptic patients.

Comment: Organiser of the biannual international epilepsy congress (IEC), with great teaching sessions and networking events, especially for young epileptologists. There is also a Young Epilepsy section (ILAE YES), if you want to get involved as a neurology trainee. On the website, you will find links for guidelines, manuals, and recent papers.

International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology

The IFCN represents national and sections of professional societies as well as individuals who share the desire to promote best practices in clinical neurophysiology through education and research throughout the world.
