SAVE THE DATE: "Stroke - What happens afterwards?" | 14 May 2024 | 16:00-18:00, Basel

05.04.2024

In the run-up to this year's European Stroke Organisation Conference in Basel, a public event will be held on the topic "Stroke - what comes next? Why Switzerland needs a patient organisation".

The event will take place on 14 May 2024 from 16:00 to 18:00 at the Congress Center CCB Basel and is aimed at those affected, stroke survivors, medical professionals, the public and representatives from politics and health insurance companies.

The lack of a specific patient organisation for stroke survivors in Switzerland has led to the organisation of a public event on this topic. Other countries have successfully established such organisations and it is important to address this issue in order to discuss the possibility of creating a similar body in Switzerland.

The aim of this event is to highlight the importance of patient organisations for stroke survivors, to provide insights into the process of establishing such an organisation and to lead a discussion on why Switzerland needs such an organisation and what steps are necessary to achieve this.

The following objectives will be pursued with this event:

  • Raise national awareness of the need for a patient organisation for stroke survivors in Switzerland.
  • Facilitate discussions and connections between stakeholders.
  • Explore best practices from other countries in setting up stroke patient organisations.
  • Initiate a dialogue on the importance of such organisations for ethical, clinical and social support.
  • Identify potential leaders and advocates for the establishment of a stroke survivor patient organisation.
