We come up with some news:

First of all, we would like to announce the call for the first SAYeNce Travel Grants. We want to support scientifically active members. Therefore, we want to support you financially to visit a specific conference with up to 600 CHF. Further details can be found here. 


Then, we would like to present you the SAYNlet, a booklet containing guidelines, expert opinions and suggestions of official neurological societies. This is a pocket tool for the most important diseases, schemes and scores in neurology, which is not exhaustive though.


A first beta version is available for FREE for all SAYN members. It will be updated and extended. You can find further information here, or ask your local representative or write an email to or

During our workshop in St. Gallen new board members has been selected. First of all, we want to thank Rike Barth for her great contribution and we wish her all the best. We would like to welcome Elke Schegk (Aarau) and Janne Hamann (Zurich) as new members!


July 22nd: Fachtagung Klinische Neurophysiologie und angrenzende Gebiete 25.1.-01.2.2020 (Neuroalpin)


Together with the young sections of the Austrian neurology society and the german electrophysiology society, SAYN is invited to design an afternoon programme for young neurologists during this conference, which will take place in Grindelwald, CH, this year. We would like to invite all interested people, especially from the German speaking part, to take part in this interesting week. There will be practical courses in the morning, and talks and scientific sessions in the afternoon.

January 22nd: ENMG certification

The Swiss Society for Clinical Neurophysiology has changed the regulations for the ENMG certification into a credit system. Examinations are divided into two groups: complex ones, being worth 2 credit points, and simple ones for one credit.
The German version of the new regulations is already published on the website

December 18th: SAVE THE DATES 2019!


As the year is coming to an end we want to inform you about the upcoming SAYN-events in 2019.

The 3rd SAYN teaching course will take place in Berne (Inselspital) at the 23rd of February 2019. Again, there will be five interactive sessions lead by experienced neurologists. The detailed programme will follow soon but again the course will cover a broad spectrum of neurology (clinical examination, Neuro-radiology, neuro-immunology, movement disorders and emergency/Intensive care).

You can already register for this event (SAYN-members only, no registration fee) via email to:, Subject: "SAYN teaching course". Please send a message including your full name, your current working place and the number of years with experience in neurology.
The number of participants is limited and the selection will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Then there will be two SAYN workshops coming up next year. You are welcome to join those to get to know more about the SAYN, its work and get involved in ongoing projects.

The spring workshop (9th SAYN Workshop) will take place in St. Gallen from 30.-31.03.2019. The programme and registration details will follow in february.

The autumn workshop (10th SAYN Workshop) will take place in Chexbres from 25.-27.10.2019. This will also be the 5th anniversary of the SAYN, so there will be a little 5 year jubilee surprise programme. Again, details are to follow around late summer.

We are looking forward to the upcoming events and hope to see many of you there.



July 6th: 10th Swiss Movement Disorders Symposium, Lucerne, August 30th-31st


We are happy to announce the annual Swiss Movement Disorders Symposium taking place in Lucerne from 30th to 31st August, 2018.


This meeting offers a great opportunity to obtain latest clinical and scientific updates in the field of movements disorders, presented by esteemed national and international speakers. After the successful introduction of the “Swiss Young Neurologists” session last year, we will continue this year with a talk about relevant aspects of neuroimaging in movement disorders given by Prof. Dr. Bogdan Draganski (Lausanne).

It was a great pleasure to welcoming you to the 1st SFCNS Summer School which took place from August 11-12, 2017 in Zurich, Switzerland. 
Thank you very much for your participation in this new event of the Neurosocieties. 

Following Modul I in 2017, we are honored to invite you to the 2nd SFCNS Summer School 2018, held from August 24-25, 2018 at the Inselspital in Bern, Switzerland. 

The Module II this year is constructed around the following topics:
· Sleep and epilepsy
· Emergencies in the Neurocenter

New in 2018: you can also buy day tickets for Friday, August 24 or Saturday, August 25, 2018. There are also reduced participation fees for students now.

As last year, there will be a casual networking event on Friday evening.

During the last SAYN spring workshop in Zurich, which was held together with the European sister association EAN-RRFS, the Executive Committee had to be reorganized. We thank our outgoing president Rebekka Kurmann and wish her all the best for her future challenges. The new Committee is presented in this section on the website.

A headache symposium with specialists from Austria, Germany and Switzerland will take place from March 15th-17th in Bad Zurzach. The programme covers a broad range of topics, applying to a wide audience. Further details on the programme and the registration on that site:

December 19th: Fachtagung für Neurophysiologie und angrenzende Gebiete

Recommendation: Early in the new year 2018 (Jan 20th – 27th) the “Fachtagung für Neurophysiologie und angrenzende Gebiete“ in Damüls (Bregenzerwald), Austria, will take place. It is an international conference with instructive practical courses (e.g. ENMG, Nerve Ultrasound) in the morning, led by experts, and high-quality talks on different topics in the evening. In between there is enough time to enjoy your leisure time, the surrounding or the big skiing area.

August 8th1st SAYN teaching course 

The first teaching course of the Swiss Association of Young Neurologists (SAYN) will take place on August 26th at the Inselspital Bern.

We managed to acquire specialists with excellent clinical and educational skills, so this surely will be a very rewarding course. HERE you can find further information on the programme and the registration.

This course comes without a registration fee, but is eligible for SAYN-members only.

If you are not a SAYN-Member yet, but want to attend the teaching course, you can participate if you apply for a SAYN-Membership before the course. Simply attach a copy of the submitted application to your registration email.



June 26th 100th Member Reward


As a fast-rising association reaching more and more Young Neurologists all over Switzerland, SAYN is approaching the milestone of one hundred members.

The hundredth member will be rewarded a free membership in the first year – apart from all the other benefits all members can profit from (e.g. reduced FMH exam fee, reduced registration fee for Annual Meeting of the Swiss Neurological Society), which you can discover here on our website.
